Didn’t like to pursue a career,
Loved doing household chores,
Studied only for the sake of becoming an educated bride,
Spent all her time for the kids and husband,
She was the perfect daughter-in-law,
Never tried to live for herself,
And lived only for others.
All because that’s how she liked it.
They say:
Do not laugh aloud,
Walk with your heads down,
Speak softly,
Enjoy suffering,
Be a good wife- that’s your life’s mission,
Meekness is laudable,
Sacrifice is inevitable,
Not having an opinion is respectable,
Being outdated makes you the ideal woman,
Mellow and subdued women are impressive,
And a honorable Woman likes it all.
Oh darling! Of course, you will impress a lot of people,
Because you are less of a threat,
Less of a competition,
So, they will cheer,
They will say this is the only way to be,
And you will also like it.
You will teach your daughter to like it,
She will teach your granddaughter to like it,
It’s a banal cycle.
Enough girls around the world still think
that they need to fit into glass slippers.
It’s about time we taught them
to shatter glass ceilings.
You like being perfect?
Perfection is overrated.
Sacrifice is overrated.
Do not like it.
It’s a crime against your entire gender.
You’re telling the menfolk
That it’s possible
for a woman to be a robot-
Unfeeling, unopinionated and happily willing to be all that.
Do not be their champion.
Be a champion for those of us,
who are still struggling to get where they already are.
Roar from the top of the world,
For no woman should like being a sheep.
They won’t like it,
They will mock you,
They will ask, what woman roars.
Tell them all women should.
A man’s standpoint affects very few,
while a woman’s attitude forges generations,
for everything begins at home and with the mother.
You might think you like it,
You might possibly, actually do.
But how can you miss what you never had?
One weak link is all it takes,
To lead to the oppression of our entire kind,
Do not be the weak link.
Just because you didn’t know better than to like it.
